Company Directors

Nicki Combarro MSc MCSP, State Registered Physiotherapist

Nicki qualified from the University of Hertfordshire in 1996 with a BSc (Hons) in Physiotherapy. She then worked for the NHS for the following five years focusing on Musculoskeletal physiotherapy. This included outpatient clinics, orthopaedic wards, specialist hand unit, hydrotherapy and rehabilitation classes.

After completing her MSc in Sports Injuries in 2002 Nicki left the NHS and went to work for the MOD at RAF Halton for 3 years. This stint as a civilian physiotherapist working in the Military demonstrated to be an invaluable learning curve and allowed her to further expand her physiotherapy treatment and rehabilitation repertoire.

Alongside these full time commitments Nicki has been working with English Hockey since 1997 providing physiotherapy support through training and competition, to a variety of the National Age group squads and the English Mens team. Working with the National squads has also facilitated a lot of travel to Europe, Poland, Malaysia and South Africa.

Bodybalance Physiotherapy and Sports Injury Clinic was established by Nicki in 1999 and was initially a part time venture alongside her additional work commitments. With the move to the new Hertfordshire Sports Village  facilitites in August 2003 the clinic hours have expanded to meet the new demands.

Currently in addition to the Bodybalance Physiotherapy Clinic Nicki is also a Consultant Physiotherapist for the English Institute of Sport treating Elite International athletes based at Milton Keynes National Badminton Centre.

Over the past 8 years Nicki has also been involved with multisport events such as the European Youth Olympic Games, Murcia 2001, Commonwealth Games, Manchester 2002, World University Games in South Korea 2003 and Turkey 2005.In 2006 Nicki attended the Commonwealth Games in Melbourne supporting the English National Badminton Team to multiple medal success.

Despite reducing her International travel to have two children, Olivia in 2006 and Rafael in 2008, Nicki continued to provide Physiotherapy services for the English Institute of Sport supporting the East regional International athletes and attended the Winter World University Games in China in February as part of the Team GB medical team.

Nicki is a Gold Accredited Member of the Association of Chartered Physiotherapists in Sports Medicine - an Internationally recognised specialised group of Physiotherapists working in Sport.

Julie Brumby BSc (Hons) MCSP, State Registered Physiotherapist
Julie Brumby

Julie has worked with world class athletes from various sports including swimming, diving, tennis, rugby and hockey. She has also worked with a wide variety of sports teams including the English Rugby Football Union, and the Mavericks Superleague Netball team, providing treatment and injury prevention advice.

Julie graduated in Physiotherapy from the University of Hertfordshire in 1998 and since then has been working extensively in the NHS, in private practice and in elite sport, gaining invaluable experience in the treatment of musculoskeletal and sports injuries.

Inaddition to being a Director of Bodybalance Physiotherapy and Sports Injury Clinic Ltd and providing expertise within her clinical hours, Julie is also a Extended Scope Practioner working for the NHS in St Albans as an Orthopaedic Triage Physiotherapy Consultant.

Specialist treatments and skills include muscle imbalance work, Pilates, acupuncture, and manipulation, along side core Physiotherapy techniques.

Lisa Goodwin MCSP, State Registered Physiotherapist
Lisa Goodwin

Lisa is a success of the University of Hertfordshire gaining her Physiotherapy degree in 2003. She started her career working within the NHS in a very prestigious London Hospital before specialising in musculoskeletal physiotherapy.

Lisa continues to work part time in the NHS as an advanced A+E Physiotherapist in addition to her Bodybalance Clinics.

Over the years Lisa has gained extensive experience of sports injuries working for various sports teams, including Rugby clubs and a premiership football club. She has also worked in the areas of Womens Health and Orthopaedics.

Lisa's specialist skills include acupuncture, pilates, manipulation, kinesio-taping and myofascial release.

Currently Lisa is studying for the final year of a Masters Degree in Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy. This has included modules on upper and lower quadrant, x-ray and blood interpretation. Lisa enjoys the research side of the degree which enables her to keep up to date on all the latest techniques and ensures her practice is evidence based.

Lisa is a keen runner and enjoys swimming, tennis and wine tasting for relaxation!

Lisa is committed to using manual therapy treatment techniques in the provision of one to one patient focused care.

Sue Pearson MCSP, State Registered Physiotherapist

 

Since qualifying in 1983 Sue has gained valuable experience working both in the NHS and in private practises.

On completion of a Certificate in Occupational Health she went into full time work with Vauxhall Motors working with the company ergonomist. Implementing on site risk assessments effected immediate solutions to new problems which developed on a daily basis.

Currently she is employed with a large corporate firm providing physiotherapy for musculoskeletal disorders and on site work-station assessments. New acute disorders are seen within two days minimising sickness absence for the patient and the company.

Sue works as a highly specialised consultant physiotherapist at Bodybalance Physiotherapy and Sports Injury Clinic on a part time basis and has additional consultancy roles with other major local businesses.

Having worked for Dagenham F.C in the past she also works as part of a team of physio’s for the Old Albanian Rugby Club.

Sue is always keen to challenge her medical knowledge and enjoys reading the latest research to ensure that her treatment choices are always evidence based and based on best practice. To help achieve this she is a member of a local peer review acupuncture group and regularly contributes with case histories and medical paper reviews. Sue is also a member of  the various Physiotherapy specialist interest groups AACP (acupuncture), ACPSM (Sports Medicine), ACPOHE (Occupational Health and Ergonomics), and is registered with the Health Professions Council.
